“Stimulate Youth Participation in the
Election Process”

Youth Social Association successfully completed the US.
Embassy-supported project entitled “Stimulate Youth Participation
in Election Process in 23 villages of Fizuli district”
from June 2003 to November 2003.
The project has been implemented to educate the young
voters on election process in 23 villages throughout Fizuli
region. Within the project the young population of Fizuli
district has been educated on their voting rights and
on the election process. The organized meetings and trainings
stimulated active participation of youth in the conducted
2003 presidential elections and helped the young people
to actively participate in building democratic and civil
society in this region. Within the trainings and meetings
have been organized lectures on the topics of election
codex, the role and place of election in democracy development,
election principles and citizen rights, the role of youth
in election observation, the passiveness of young voters
and other themes.
As the result of the enlightenment activity of Organization
in this region, Fizuli district has been placed at the
second place as an active region in participation level
in previous 2003 presidential elections.
In general more than 500 young people have been involved
to the 23 training courses within the project activity.
The project played an important role in indirect enlightenment
of Fizuli population about the voting rights, election
process and building democratic and civil society. Within
the project has been published the booklet titled “Election
and Youth”.
At the end of the project has been organized a conference
in the Fizuli district entitled “Stimulate Youth Participation
in the Election Process” which involved the majority participants
of the project to discuss the results and achievements
of the project.
