On
09-13 September, 2005 Azerbaijani-American Youth
Social Association with Polish partner Organization “Association
for Civic Initiatives Support” has organized in Baku an
International Contact Making Seminar within the European
Commission Youth Programme titled “How to overcome barriers
of non-EU member states youth NGOs to participate actively
in EU Youth Programme”. In the Seminar have participated
over the 26 young people from UK, Italy, France, Netherlands,
Hungary, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, Russia,
Georgia, Belarusia countries who were representing the
different European youth organizations.
Contact Making Seminar was a good opportunity for the
young people of non-EU and EU member states to exchange
their experience and good practices about participation
forms of the Youth Programme, setting up cooperation and
common activities among them. This Contact Making Seminar
helped the local and foreign participants to overcome
barriers of participation in EU Youth Programme and in
finding the partners for developing cooperation and exchange
experiences from the field of youth work.
The Seminar goal was to achieve exchange in cultural
and educational area, distribute information on available
actions of the European Union Youth Programme for both
member and non-EU member state NGOs, work in the workshops
on co-operative projects related with the third sector
countries, to get involved into implementation of EU youth
policy. Information support, intercultural integration,
negotiations and dialogue among young people on short
and long-term project plans with all participating countries
has been gained by this event.
In the Contact Making Seminar has been noted the importance
of integration Azerbaijan Youth Organizations to European
Commission Youth Programme and European Union Youth movement.
The Seminar participants have deeply stressed the importance
of participation of European youth in Azerbaijani events
for knowing closely the Azerbaijani youth environment,
culture and values.
