On
1 of November, 2006 year at “Hyatt Hotel” Conference
and Meeting Center, Baku Hall has been organized conference
entitled “Legislation Acts and Youth Interests in Azerbaijan”:
“Realities and Perspective Thoughts” within the “Azerbaijan
Youth Parliament-Second Phase” project that financial
supported by Royal Norwegian Embassy in Baku and through
technical support of Eurasia Foundation.
The members of Parliament of Azerbaijan Republic Fuad
Muradov, Akram Abdullayev, Azay Quliyev, Sabir Haciyev,
Rauf Aliyev, Eyvaz Qurbanov, Ilham Mammadov, Gultakin
Haciyeva, head of Constitution Research Foundation Alimammad
Nuriyev, head of department on youth organizations issues
of Ministry of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Republic
Vugar Ahmadov, Program Manager of the Eurasia Foundation
Sabina Suleymanova, director of Open Society Institute-Assistance
Foundation Farda Asadov, head of American Alumni Association
Fariz Ismayilzadeh, chief of representative office of
AIESEC Organization in Azerbaijan Baxtiyar Haciyev,
members of regional coordination councils of Azerbaijani
Youth Parliament, representatives of International organizations
and NGOs had took part in the conference.
First of all website of Azerbaijani-American Youth Social
Association prepared within the project and survey conducted
among 665 youth in 8 regions of Azerbaijan were presented
at the beginning of the conference.
Chairman of Azerbaijan-American Youth Social Association
Vugar Ahmadov made an opening speech at the conference
and told about the aims of this event and mentioned
that this meeting is based on carrying out the discussions
on the topic of drawing public and parliamentarians’
attention on regional problems, needs of young people,
presenting survey results and suggested legislative
projects regarding the youth from the regions and members
of Azerbaijan Youth Parliament, increasing access possibilities
of youth to the parliament institution and Milli Majlis
members (MPs), organizing youth-parliamentarians meetings
and table the topic related to the legislative acts
in Azerbaijan and their correspondence with youth interests.
Member of Parliament of Azerbaijan Republic Fuad Muradov
mentioned in his speech that this initiative is the
important step in increasing the abilities in integration
of youth to Milli Majlis deputies and to parliament
institution. The conference speakers: chief of Constitution
Research Foundation Alimammad Nuriyev, head of department
on youth work issues of Youth and Sport Ministry of
Azerbaijan Republic Vugar Ahmadov gave information about
existed executive bases in Azerbaijan and about adopted
lows concerning youth.
Then deputy Azay Quliyev mentioned that it is important
to realize this project that directed to raise priority
problems of youth.
In the speech of deputy of Milli Majlis Akram Abdullayev
main attention were directed on laws adopted concerning
youth and on gaps that exists in this sphere. Member
of Milli Majlis Gultekin Hajiyeva highly appreciate
this initiative of Azerbaijan-America Youth Social Association.
Deputies that made speech during the conference supported
the “Azerbaijan Youth Parliament-Second Phase” project
of Azerbaijan-America Youth Social Society and mentioned
that it is the institution that works indeed with youth.
Members of youth organizations and young members of
parliament made a speech in second session of the conference.
The members of regional coordination centers of Youth
Parliament asked questions about their needs and regional
problems to deputies. At the end of the conference a
meeting with young parliamentarians and members of Milli
Majlis decided to be continued and was planed to appear
with new initiatives in frames of relations between
Azerbaijan-American Youth Social Association and Milli
Majlis after collecting all proposals and ideas during
the conference. This projects can be specially consists
of initiatives like preparing legislative proposals
about priority youth problems, preparing projects concerning
the youth interests lobbying and protection and presenting
them to the executive bodies, holding meetings with
young parliamentarians and members of Milli Majlis.
